Five Ways to Save...

Based on Your Shopping Personality:

The Rookie Shopper

by Stephanie Nelson, CouponMom.com

1. Are you a rookie shopper? A Rookie shopper is willing to spend 30 minutes at home to plan their trip to the grocery store.  She (or he)  is also someone who will use some coupons and usually will shop at one store per week.

2. Find the Best Deals before you leave home. Date the Sunday coupon circular and use the CouponMom.com website to cut out the coupons needed for deals before shopping. Your store’s weekly ads and CouponMom.com’s Grocery Deals’ list display the best deals and discounts for the current week.

3. Create bargain-minded menu plans -  Online recipe sites can help you tailor meals around deals. Find recipes that suit your tastes and time constraints, and consider doubling the recipes to save time as well as money. Create basic meals for the week by using sale-priced main dish ingredients you see in the store ad.

4. Pantry Inventory. Checking current inventory will prevent over-buying ingredients you already have. Also, plan to make meals with what you have on hand.

5. Walk the perimeter. Avoid pre-packaged convenience in the middle of the store. Stick to the perimeter and look for featured sales in meat, produce, and dairy. When you do shop those middle aisles for packaged items, be sure to use your coupons and buy the sale-priced items.
